BOLG OF THE WEEK

This week in the academy, we had the director of Hartland water works come in and talk to us about how their water system works and we asked them questions that we can use for our project. On Thursday eight people went to a sewage plant, I wasn’t one of eight so I stayed behind. I was going to be in art but it didn’t work out so I ended up going to the other interview with the director of grounds at arrowhead. He told us what he does and a little about arrowheads water. Than on Friday we watched a video that helped the groups that where against water bottles, like us. That was this week in the academy.

This week went by really fast, Monday we got to start a new project. I'm in a group with Lauren and Sara,we are called the "Association of Private State Water Treatment Plants." Right now we are just doing research. We did really start working until Thursday. We finish the book, "Of Mice and Men," all of the section Quizzes had to be done by Thursday. On Friday we where going to go into two different groups but everyone got the quizzes in. So we all went to Mrs. M room and watch the movie of the book.

This week in the academy went be fast, I took a lot of quizzes. I’m at the end of chapter 2 in the book “Of Mice and Men.” I still have to take the quiz on chapter 1 though. I’ve also been writing a script for my group’s skit on John Dalton, we are almost done all we have to do at is practice and bring in the any items that might explain what he did more. I am now on step 4 or 5 of think globally. In art we are finishing our 3D crystals, everyone is just about done. Our whole unit is on crystals right now.

We had a short week this week so we didn't do much, but on Wednesday we had our meeting with no school board about the 1 to 1 project we were working on. My partner and I wrote a letter so I didn’t have to prescient for them. I showed them how an Iphone is connected to learning at school. That really all, we didn’t do anything else.

This week in the academy, we finished working on the product testing and started a new project about what device we should use for the one to one program. I’m partners with Benji and we choose to compare the Ipad 2 to the Mac Book Air, we both believe that the Ipad 2 is better because it is just like a computer but is weights less and easier to carrier around arrowhead high school. We went to apple and took a tour of the store. All we have left to do now is to make the letter and send it to the school board. I hope he likes our letter.

Blog of the week

I'm love being in the academy but, i think we should slow down on the acceptance. We are going to fast with the experiment do and the achieves. Other than that everything is fine in the academy. With the cell phone project we find out that Sprint has better coverage then AT&T and Verizon around arrowhead.  

       I like it in the academy, we get a lot of work time so we never really have to take our homework home. The project we are working on now is called "Product Testing." We have to pick a product or topic and research it and make a video of us doing the experiment. My partner and I both have cell phones that we text on a lot so we choose that as our topic. Ms. M said that we should uses the serves. Our project is who can get the most bars in the rooms on south campus of Arrowhead , AT&T, Verizon, or Sprint? I believe its going to be AT&T, not because its my phone but because i get serves all over the school, but we will know when we finish our experiment.

Ipads For Academy

I think that laptops would be easier for the academy. First of all iPad's can't get intto all the sites that we go it to and google docs freezes and wastes all of the work time. I use an iPad; they are slower, harder to type on, and they cost more than an laptop. Also almost everyone in the class has a laptop.

Academy project

The reason we did the room design was because the class is meant to be different. No other teacher(s) would let us raise funds to buy a couch and make the design our own. It was also intended to teach us responsibility and perspective on being in charge of our own future career. The rope coarse taught me to trust everyone in the class who are both peers I've known and those that I did not previously know. We are a team working together to achieve one goal and that is to become productive adults.
